Former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao’s lawyers are requesting a US judge to deny the Justice Department’s plea to prevent him from returning to the UAE until he is imprisoned for anti-money laundering violations.

Zhao resigned as CEO after pleading guilty to causing Binance to fail to implement an effective anti-money laundering policy.

The Justice Department has urged Jones to overturn the US Magistrate Judge’s decision to release Zhao on a $175 million bail bond before his Feb. 23 sentencing.
